*Sitting with the quiet panic of wondering if life ever actually gets easier*

Today is one of those days.

The kind where everything feels heavy, but not in a loud, obvious way. It’s quieter than that. It’s this steady, underlying feeling of existential dread that keeps asking the same questions on repeat.

Is this it?

Is this all there is?

Does it actually get better?

And I don’t have answers. Just the questions, and the weight of them.

It comes in waves. Moments where I feel this intense drop in my chest, like life isn’t going to improve, like this is as good as it gets and everything else is just a slow decline. That thought alone is enough to make everything feel pointless.

What’s the purpose?

I catch myself thinking about things like winning the lottery. Not in some fantasy, over-the-top way. I don’t want jets or mansions or anything like that. I just want to feel comfortable. I want to know that if something goes wrong, there’s a cushion. That I could fix my car if it breaks down. That I could move if I needed to. That I wouldn’t be one bad situation away from everything collapsing.

Financial stability feels like it would quiet at least part of this dread. Not all of it, but enough to breathe a little easier.

Because right now, part of the fear is not just what life is, but what it could become. The uncertainty. The lack of a safety net. The constant awareness that things could get worse, and there’s nothing there to catch you if they do.

And that’s where the dread really sits.

It’s not just about meaning or purpose in some abstract way. It’s also about survival, about security, about whether life will ever feel steady instead of fragile.

Today, it just feels like it won’t.

I don’t really know what to make of that yet. I don’t have a resolution or a lesson to tie this up nicely.

Just the honesty of it.

That today is hard.
